I'LL CLEAVE YOU!" 0 By Linderwood#53065 3 years ago ( 8.7.0 ) That's some gorgeous artwork! Surely he has some redeeming qualities... Active skill? Nope. Leader skill? Poor. Awoken skills? Worthless... "Hatred is what drives me!" Last edited by Linderwood 3 years ago ( 8.7.0 ) 0 By Zabi#80487 3 years ago ( 8.7.0 ) YES! My dream has come true! Gabranth is MINE! I personally like his stats and such, but then again, I love Gabranth, so I'm biased. Don't make me fight Vayne again, though, please... -1 By SoWL#24452 3 years ago ( 8.6.2 ) I didn't mind the FFI-V bosses being boring nukers because they didn't have any personality to begin with, but seeing the FFVIII-XII bosses getting the same treatment is heart-breaking. Gabranth, Jecht and Kuja deserve better. 1 Unless I'm totally missing something, your whole post seems off. Gabranth does a DARK nuke of 20X the team's WOOD attack. So none of this math matters. You're talking about him doing a WATER nuke based on DARK attack. EDIT: Getting closer, but still confused where you were coming from. A weird mixup of Gabranth and Braska's Final Aeon active skill math? Gabranth does dark from 20x team wood ATK, Braska does dark from 10x team water. So... you're laying out BFA's nuke but with the colors reversed, and using Gabranth's multiplier? Hell, I have no idea. Last edited by nottravis 3 years ago ( 8.7.0 ) 1 I can agree with that assessment, haha. All good! The actives were a really random choice on GH's part this time around. (They also don't make it clear whether defense impacts it, which I assume it does – if it DIDN'T and it was true damage, that's about the only usefulness I could see for the active, but I doubt that's the case). 0 Seeing as we got the Collab just now, I figured I'd come visit, and it's interesting to see someone finally made a response to what I said. I'm fairly confident that, in the past, everything I said here was accurate. But, misreading it could have easily gotten me mixed up. Or it got changed in some version between these posts. Everyone used to deal damage according to the team's dark attack, but the element they hit with varied to my recollection. Either way, you're currently right. In the end, while my math is now outrageously off, my point stands: His active is trash, but his stats and cost are absolutely stellar for someone who could use him. 0 True damage has never had an element associated with it. It's always been a plain white number. So it's safe to assume Element and Defense are factored in. 0 Hi. This post is so good. You have one minor mistake to fix. When you fix it, I will delete my post. You say, "Let's compare some similar nukes." Then you say, in that next sentenve, that Gabranth does Water damage. But, that isn't right. He does Dark damage. It just needs a quick edit. 0 BoyDynamo#91527 3 years ago ( 9.0.3 ) This guy's biggest redeeming quality is that he is 12 cost. 12. After player level exceeds triple digits, team cost isn't really an issue, but this guy is attainable by anyone during the collab, even those low level players who have team cost restrictions. One enhance carnival and Garbranth, Jecht and Kuja are welcome additions to anyone looking at team costs of 50 or less. We all want our favorite crossovers to be the best, but c'mon, PaD wants their own stuff to be the best, the rest is just marketing, notably to new players. -1 Kayobi#58896 3 years ago ( 8.6.2 ) I'm with you there, boss. It really makes me sad to see one of my favorite characters have basically nothing to bring to the table. Honestly, in what case would Gabranth's nuke have a real use? Let's take a look at my "best" Dark team. The team isn't built to be optimal or anything like that, so let's not make this a discussion on the team setup. I'm using this purely as an example of what would happen with him being on a team that isn't built entirely around him. We'll assume we have these cards on the team. H.Kali Dark/Water Okuninushi Dark Valk Claire Awoken Yomi Awoken Anubis H.Kali That's the team to start with, but obviously we need to drop something for Gabranth. To keep the team practical, I would probably drop Claire. That keeps the team Skill Bind immune, gives it a Delay/Enhance combo, a board enhance, and a Wood-to-Dark orb change. Seems reasonable. Now, this team would have 8,034 Dark attack without any eggs. Hypermaxed, we would be looking at 10,674 Dark attack. That means Gabranth's nuke would deal 160,680 damage without eggs, and 213,480 damage with maxed Attack eggs. That's a pretty large number, for sure, but there are key differences between this and other cards with a big nuke. Let's compare some similar nukes. Gabranth, as said before, does 160.68k Water damage without eggs and 213.48k with. 15 turn max CD. Awoken Archdemon Lucifer deals 150k damage to one enemy and is unaffected by element/defense. Also spawns 3 Dark orbs from non-Darks. 8 turn max CD. Seraph of Corruption, Lucifer does 200x his attack, making for a whopping 331.2k damage at max level without eggs and 430.2k with. Your HP then becomes 1, but you get 6 Hearts from non-Dark and Hearts. 10 turn max CD. Card 2616 from Crows collab does 100x his attack as Light, making 150.8k without eggs, 200.3k with, and also doubles Physical and Attacker types' damage for two turns. 15 turn max CD. Rihaku does 10x Water team attack (check his page for min-maxed math) who is lucky to hit 120k with his active, and that's only on JP. Also enhances water by 1.5x for 3 turns. 10 turn max CD. Combat State, Armored Titan deals 150x his attack in Wood, which equals 226.2k without eggs, 300.45k with. 15 turn max CD. So far, Gabranth here is in trouble. But, let's try to stack things in his favor. Hell, maybe he'll have a use. The highest attack Dark card in the game is, as of this writing, Ult-Evo Sephiroth at 2,302 attack, beating out Ult-Evo Lu Bu at 2,193 attack. It should also be noted that Sephiroth is Primary and Sub Dark as well, meaning he would have an effective 2,532 Dark attack in the team stat block. This is before Eggs, which can crank him up to 2,797 attack, which should equate to 3,076 attack on the team panel. Assuming there's no rounding shenanigans. Now, let's assume we had five of him. 2,532 x 5 = 12,660 + 152(Gabranth himself) = 12,812 team Dark attack 12,812 x 20 = 256,240 Water damage nuke That's better. As it stands, he now beats Demon Lucifer, 2616, and non-Hyper Titan. However, those cards do this much damage on their own along with additonal benefits or with lower CDs. Now, once more, but with Hypers. 3,076 x 5 = 15,380 + 201(hyper Gabranth) = 15,581 team Dark attack 15,581 x 20 = 311,620 Water damage nuke That's a big number. However, Corruption Lucifer still beats him out. This should be expected, given the downside of The Morning Star. But, there you have it. If you want to get the biggest number possible out of him, there it is. Also note that this is Water damage. Against a Fire attribute enemy, this would be doubled to 623,240 damage. That's an incredible amount on one skill, but your team it completely hinging off of it in this case. Against other attributes (or heavens forbid a Wood attribute) he just can't cut it. Given everything that needs to be done to make Gabranth properly compete (like five specific REM cards from a collab if you really want to get min-max-ey), he just isn't worth it. He's got some rad art, but his poor attacking awakenings (Read that as: None.) and his oddball active make it so that anyone with a good sub pool to choose from won't give a care about him. At best, he could be used to toss out some damage that can take out Fire attribute enemies that your team normally can't get rid of. The other cards in the collab with similar actives appear to be created for that same niche. However, his stats compared to his cost and rarity are stellar. For someone wanting to use a low cost team (not that there's much need with the recent loosening of restrictions on Descends) or a new player that manages to get him, he can actually be put to good use. The same can be said of many of the other new farmable cards in this Collab, such as Kuja and Jecht. The previously mentioned off-type damage would also be more valuable to them, even with their team's attack being less than perfect. Now, I'm assuming all of my math here is correct. I've gone through and double checked it, but there's still a lot of numbers here, and it's not exactly perfectly readable. I pretty much did all of this stream-of-consciousness. But I'm fairly confident it is. If it isn't, say so and I'll take a look. Last edited by Kayobi 3 years ago ( 8.6.2 ) |
